Program Overview

The Culture & Craft Program introduces students to Indonesian culture through hands-on creative activities. Students explore traditional dance, music, games, and local cuisine while actively participating in cultural practices.

This program encourages creativity, cultural appreciation, teamwork, and self-expression, helping students experience Indonesian heritage in an interactive and memorable way.

Program Goals

The program aims to:

Traditional Dance Class

Overview

Students learn the basic concepts of traditional dance in Indonesia and explore local dance culture from Bintan.

Activities
  • Learn about traditional dance concepts in Indonesia
  • Receive an introduction to Bintan dance culture
  • Learn about Zapin dance and its cultural background
  • Practice Zapin dance movements in guided sessions

Traditional Music Class (Angklung)

Overview

Students are introduced to traditional Indonesian music through Angklung, a bamboo musical instrument.

Activities
  • Learn traditional music concepts in Indonesia
  • Learn what Angklung is and how to play it
  • Choose a simple song together
  • Learn hand symbols and coordination techniques
  • Practice playing the selected song as a group

Traditional Games

Overview

Students experience traditional Indonesian games that combine physical activity, rhythm, and teamwork.

Activities
  • Learn the basics of Sepak Takraw and how to play
  • Learn Yeye and how to play it
  • Play traditional games in small teams
  • Practice coordination and teamwork

Cooking Class

Overview

Students learn to prepare traditional Indonesian snacks and desserts through guided cooking sessions.

Activities
  • Learn about traditional foods such as Klepon, Dadar Gulung, Roti Jala, and Lupis
  • Participate in hands-on cooking activities
  • Learn basic kitchen safety and food hygiene
